Since January 1, 2016, every building owner must appoint a ventilation reporter when constructing a new home or undertaking major energy renovations. This reporter prepares a performance report on the ventilation system and ensures its inclusion in the EPB report.
What specifically needs to happen?
- Ventilation preliminary design
- The ventilation design must be prepared before work begins. It contains all the information about the ventilation system and its impact on your space(s).
- Your architect or EPB reporter can perfectly develop this design and present it visually on a plan. It is important that the preliminary design complies with the standard for basic ventilation in private homes. If this is not the case, a valid EPB report is impossible.
- Ventilation measurement
- The ventilation measurement is performed by a certified reporter. We will conduct an on-site assessment to ensure the actual system conforms to our design. After installation, they will verify that the system actually meets the required standards. The reporter will then create a file with the BCCA and submit the report to the EPB reporter.
